The agronomic benefits of using compost are well documented and accepted as part of good agricultural practice. Reducing inorganic fertiliser usage by 35-40% can have significant financial, environmental and CPO quality implications in promoting sustainable plantation agriculture.

BARcompost is enriched with our proprietary BioLogic Blend, which contains microbes that are beneficial to the overall wellbeing of the soil and palms. It is a microbially enriched superior supplement or substitute for inorganic fertilisers because:

BARcompost is free of inorganic fertiliser additives, which are harmful to compost performance. An increase in compost osmolarity harms beneficial microbes, which are non-halotolerant. Osmosis due to the concentration gradient will dehydrate the cells. Once it surpasses its tolerance threshold, the cells’ metabolic activities will cease and the cells will become non-viable.

We can process whole bunches and shredded EFB with our unique blend of microbes.

The quality of BARcompost is best evaluated on its microbiological content. However, conventional analysis of NPK, trace elements and CN analyses is suggested to provide a direct correlation to inorganic fertilizers and composition of the raw materials (EFB, POME, Decanter, Ash).

For Mills, we solve critical issues of environmental regulations, high rainfall into the ponds and land application problems, all of which affect Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) discharge.

For Plantations, BARcompost is rich in nutrients, smells good, smaller in volume than EFB and much easier to apply.

Our Composting Technology

BARformula Technology is the most advanced microbial remediation technology for Oil Palm. It is designed to take advantage of the decomposition of organic materials by bacterial activity. This equates to lower costs, increased capacity, and an improved quality of effluent. It also eliminates bad odors that are a typical by-product in the anaerobic decomposition of bacteria.

  • 45 days composting process
  • Utilises 100% of EFB produced from the Mill (shredded or/and pressed, optional to Client’s needs)
  • Utilises up to 60% of POME to FFB (Industry standard)
  • Maximum site footprint at 190m x 70m, including perimeter roads
  • BARcompost production is contractually pegged at 18% to FFB. Excess BARcompost produced is supplied at no cost to the Client

BARformula provides total solutions by managing the process from mill to field. We also provide all the necessary equipment and facilities (except for tractors and trucks), including complementary BioLogic Blend, in order to ensure the proper implementation of BARformula Technology on site.

Can Composting Work for You?

On average, mills have realized cost-savings of approximately RM1 million per annum upon implementing BARformula Technology.

For mills in the design phase, a further CAPEX savings can be realised through reduced pond construction. The holding capacity requirement of mills with a composting facility is approximately 30,000m³ as opposed to 60,000 – 100,000m³ required by conventional mills.
